Black & Blue Steak and Crab
Black & Blue Steak and Crab in Burlington, MA is more than just a meal – it’s a full experience. Right when we walked in we were greeted by the General Manager Adam Callari. He made sure we were seated right away and that the service was 5 star the entire time. First off was the beverages (we all know the way to my heart is a good cocktail). With so many creative cocktails to choose from, I went with a drink called Sparkling Cosmo 2.0. It had Square One Bergamot Vodka, orange liqueur, cranberry gelée, sparkling wine and lime. It was a beautiful drink – sweet but strong (just how I like it).
The appetizer menu is a journey let me tell you. Every single item sounded right up my alley. We decided on the Crab and Lobster Fondue. Sweet blue crab, Maine lobster, and parmigiano-reggiano cheese fondue served with toasted pita chips. All I have to say is we had no problem devouring the entire dish. No crumb was left behind. It was filled with fresh seafood and we couldn’t let one bite go to waste. The pita chips were soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside. They were definitely freshly cooked and not from a bag.
As per usual, it was time for beverage number 2. This time I went with a drink called The Rose Room. Hendricks Midsummer Solstice Gin, Kettle One, Grapefruit and Rose, Lillet Rosé, rose hips and lemon. I am not usually a Gin drinker but this sold me. It was crisp, refreshing and strong enough to let me know I had ordered the right cocktail.
Then came the best part – the main course. They started off by cleaning the table and bringing us fresh silverware – we felt so special. I ordered the Red Snapper. Line and spear caught red snapper with fingerling potatoes, brussel sprouts and baby carrots finished with bacon-sherry cream sauce. The fish was hot, buttery, flaky and silky. I was impressed beyond impressing. By far the best dish I have ever eaten – and I have eaten at some pretty amazing restaurants.
We also ordered a 20oz Porterhouse and Oscar. Lump blue crab, asparagus and a béarnaise sauce. It was cooked medium rare and included what I feel like was an entire family of crabs lol – lets just say they did not skimp on the amount of crab they included. Hot, juicy and filled with flavor – it was enough to feed an army.
The General Manager Adam Callari offered to give us a tour of the restaurant. I jumped at the opportunity to see this beautiful restaurant and learn more about the operation. He told us the seafood is boat to plate – allowing us to trace the who, what, where and how about the fish we were eating. No frozen foods here! The Black and Blue family is the only hands touching our fish. They use a small group of like-minded Boston fish houses that share their values about quality, freshness, and sustainability.
With a wine wall displaying their impressive wine selection that allows just a little peak into the action in the kitchen, two private dining rooms, a marble bar big enough to dine at and event space to hold the best of parties, Black & Blue Steak and Crab is the perfect dining experience.
The gracious hospitality of the Black & Blue Steak and Crab team was enough to make us want to come back. Our service was impeccable. The atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful. And the cooking – you could tell the chef cares about every detail and every flavor of every dish that he is putting out to each customer. We were not disappointed and will be returning very soon. If I had to say one thing about my experience at Black & Blue Steak and Crab – the price of good service and delicious food was well worth every penny. This place has it all.
